Books (yes, plural)
Although technically, I have one book that is already published and one book that is pending publication.
Of course I am quite fond of my first book, "Beating Ana: How to Outsmart Your Eating Disorder and Take Your Life Back" (see Book #1 below).
But I have to admit a certain partiality to my freshly finished second book, seeing as how it features my all-time favorite life form, my 12 year-old male grey and white cockatiel, Pearl.
My second book is called "Love & Feathers: what a 75-gram bundle of fluff has taught me about life, love, and healthy self-esteem."
Some people have already read it. They seem to like it very much, which makes Pearl very happy and his proud Mommy (aka me) even happier.
Click HERE to see what our advance readers have to say about Pearl's story!
p.s. Pearl also has his own blog: Love & Feathers
My first book is called "Beating Ana: How to Outsmart Your Eating Disorder and Take Your Life Back."
It was published by Health Communications, Inc. in 2009.

I contributed to "You Are Not Alone, Vol 2" (2009) and produced the companion CD of recovery music (which also includes two of my songs). Sooooo fun! :-)

Fellow writer and eating disorder survivor June Alexander and her co-author Cate Sangster were nice enough to invite me to contribute to their new book "Ed Says U Said" (2013). Thanks June & Cate! :-)

For Aspiring Writers
I often hear from you when you are starting to work on a book idea. I am always honored when you choose to share such big news with me! :-)
My agent likes to say (and I agree) that nobody writes a book because they want to. They write a book because they HAVE to. This was certainly the case for me.
If you too are working towards the sometimes beautiful, frequently painful, but always wonderful process of birthing a new book, I hope this article on "how I did it" (published my first book, that is) will help!
